Loved Beyond Measure
Valentine’s Day is often a time when love is measured in chocolates, flowers, and carefully worded cards. It’s a day when people celebrate romance, friendship, and affection. But for those walking through the hardship of an eating disorder, this holiday can feel overwhelming, isolating, or even painful. When struggles with food and body image consume your thoughts, it’s easy to believe the lie that your worth is tied to how you look, how much you eat, or how much you weigh.
But the truth? The Lord’s love for you is not measured by any of those things. His love is not conditional. It is not based on how well you follow a meal plan, how successful you feel in recovery, or how you perceive yourself. God loves you—right now, in this moment, exactly as you are.
An eating disorder may feel like it defines you. It may shape and consume your daily routines, your thoughts, and your emotions. But it does not define your identity. In Christ, you are not “the person with an eating disorder.” You are His beloved child. 2 Corinthians 5:17 declares, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”
God sees past your struggles and calls you by name. He doesn’t see you through the lens of your diagnosis; He sees you through the lens of His redeeming love.

God’s love is not passive—it is powerful and healing. Psalm 147:3 says, “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” If you are struggling today, feeling unworthy or unloved, know that the Lord’s love is not just a concept—it is an active, pursuing love that seeks to bring you healing, freedom, and wholeness.
Part of healing from the eating disorder is about learning to rest in the truth that you are loved by the One who created you. It is about undoing and surrendering the lies and embracing the love that never changes, even on the hardest days.
If God were to send you a Valentine’s Day card, it would not be filled with empty words or fleeting emotions. It would be signed with His blood, sealed with His promises, and written with an everlasting love that nothing can erase. Jeremiah 31:3 says, “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.”
This Valentine’s Day, whether or not you feel loved by those around you, hold onto this unshakable truth: You are deeply, wholly, and unconditionally loved by the Lord. No disorder, no struggle, no fear can change that. His love is constant, unchanging, and greater than anything this world can offer.
Rest in that truth today, friend. You are so very loved.
